More Hats !

I've finished these felted wool cloche hats with old lace, tweed flowers, vintage costume jewellery and shoe buckles.I love making them, searching junk shops, markets and charity shops for the 'right' embellishments but now I'm not sure I want to part with them!

Wool Week 2017

Wool Week is now Wool 16 Days! It took me a bit by surprise but I managed to get some wool to The Silverdale Hotel for display. The Hotel has acted as host for a display for the past few years and is currently being beautifully done up by the owners. The point of a display there is that you can see the conservation grazer sheep in their field from the hotel windows while enjoying your meal.We had a great welcome from the owners and a gorgeous cup of coffee while we set up  a coastal themed display of local wool.
On to Arnside to leave some stock at Posh Sardine wondering what everybody on the Stone Jetty was looking at....... here it is The Arnside Bore! No its not a boring person  its a tidal phenomenon (I think)
Lovely day out nice weather for a picnic on the shore at Silverdale
and then pop in to see the farmers in Yealand Conyers and collect some lovely Masham fleeces the very last of this years fleeces.I'm really late with everything this year!

I forgot to take a camera on all 3 trips! So here instead are some images of my tie dying and space dying.

Open Farm Sunday June 11th

😭😒😒😒Its Open Farm Sunday at Low Bankside Farm,Cartmel LA11 7NR.Fleeces will be from there as well as Silverdale this year and I'd really hoped to be there to do some spinning but can't make it after all so I'm really disappointed but I'm sure it'll be a great day if anyone can get to it.See Fishwick Farms facebook page for details

welly wool and boot cuffs

Heres an old fashioned remedy that apparently stops chilblains and blisters! Line the soles of your wellies or walking boots with carded washed fleece for comfort and add boot cuffs for a cosy topping.I make no claims yet about the blisters and chilblains but it certainly feels very comfortable. The idea is currently being tested so watch this space!

Spring is here!

☺☺☺☺Take a look at Fishwick Farms,Silverdale facebook page to see the new arrivals!Really beautiful and very cute!

Hand dyed wool

Here is the hand dyed  sock wool which knits up really well and is soft and hard wearing so both comfortable and durable! It is spun from the fleeces of North Country Cheviot and Masham sheep on the farms in Silverdale and Yealand Conyers. We've taken inspiration from the land and seascape for the shades used, representing sea, sand, sky ,woodland and famous Morecambe Bay Sunsets!
