Wool Week

I've been in a real panic getting things ready for Wool Week.It always seems ages off and I've loads of time ,then all of a sudden its here and I worry that I've not done enough or what I've done isn't what I wanted! But here we are................
at Posh Sardine another of Jane's fantastic displays for Wool Week! The view over the sands, the range of gifts and crafts and the proper cake make this a perfect spot to relax after the panic!

Sheep!

Arnside/Silverdale AONB Local Food and Produce Festival

Heres the entrance to The Silverdale Hotel where my display of local wool produce is being hosted during the local food and produce festival. From the menu board you can see how the owners make use of local produce! Wish I'd had time to stop for a nice cool drink in the gardens but  had to dash on to Bank House Farm to collect this years fleeces.

Arnside/Silverdale AONB Local Food and Produce Festival

Heres a couple of pictures of the display finally set up at the Silverdale Hotel for the festival, with thanks to the AONB for including me and Jane and Paul Lucas for hosting and 'minding' the display! Entitled 'Woolly Jumpers from farm to yarn' we've embellished the pieces on display with  tiny sheep, butterflies, acorns and flowers. Most of these bits and bobs are charity or junk shop finds and are just to show the importance of the wildlife and conservation grazers in the area..Lovely views from the back of the hotel overlooking the Bay and the fields with the sheep who provide the lovely fleeces ------- can't get much more local than that!

The map of Lancashire in the background is accidental but appropriate!

Wool Boat visiting again today at Marple,3rd boat along (in the distance!). Colin and Carol should be back from the Peak Forest Canal by August so hope to meet up again at Baileys Trading Post possibly a bit of an 'event' in the pipeline!

Tuesday 9 June 2015

I've sent this image to a possible new outlet to show some of the upcycled stuff and other interior bits and bobs.I thought it all looked really nice together in the sun!
Heres my visit to the Wool Boat today at Baileys Trading Post on the Macclesfield Canal to meet Colin and Carol for the first time although we've e-mailed for some time now it was really nice to meet like-minded people.Loved the boat I want one! Thats me in the left hand bottom corner

Friday 22 May 2015

Heres Tom our elderly moggie with a knack for finding a comfy spot! I've just received these beautiful peg loom rugs from Lana Norman produced from last year's Whitefaced Woodland fleeces from Arnside and the Black Welsh and Herdwick from Silverdale.I spread one out  under my rigid heddle loom to admire it,turned my back and found a cat had claimed it! So thats one rug that won't be sold (I wanted to keep one anyway!)

Nice cabled sweater

This design works well in cream or grey wool and also in unbleached cotton for less chilly weather

shawls

These shawls have been knitted and crochet in handspun wool from conservation grazer sheep in Arnside/Silverdale AONB

Wildlife around Morecambe Bay

Here's 2 pictures of birds for no reason other than that I like them. The tiny specks are geese over wintering and I was quite pleased that this seagull posed so well for me!

Tweedy knit jacket and shoulder wrap

The jacket has a funky acorn and kilt pin fastening (junk shop find)which can't be seen because of the nice cabled shoulder wrap with natural wood button so I'll try to find a picture that shows the jacket fastening!

Super tweed/calico tote bags

These lovely bags worked so well, thanks to Jeans skill with the sewing machine.Being a Luddite sewing machines terrify me! The outside is my felted wool tweed the inside is unbleached calico from Quarry Bank Mill. I'm very tempted to keep one for myself.
